Now that you've (hopefully) recovered from your holiday weekend festivities,* please take a minute to look around the site. Kick the tires, check the dipstick,** furrow your brow and mutter ominously while waggling a random metal tab whose function you cannot discern. And let us know what you think. Is there anything that works really well? Is there anything that sets your teeth to grinding? What are we not doing yet that should be a central part of our services? We want to make the site as useful as possible for local skeptics and their groups, so please, make with the feedback.
* If you're in the U.S. If you're elsewhere, you're probably still on your eight-week summer vacation.
Whoops, posted this somewhere else, but I should add it here.
When I signed in, it automatically took me to a broken link. It was easy to fix, just had to remove an extra :// near the beginning of the URL. But has anyone else seen this problem? My browser has been acting wonky lately, so it could be just me.
This site is great - mainly because it hasn't been invaded by one of the gazillion lobby groups as of yet.
May I suggest that you get these folks involved? http://www.secularism.org.uk/ - The National Secular Society of the UK.
They are regularly featured on the BBC's weekend show "The BIG Question", and do an excellent job of debating things with a sceptical bent, and use facts to back their arguments. They simply no not allow religious conviction to bias their evidential logic-chains, and produce a much better picture of the truth in doing so.
It may be worth adding more sections and 'depth' to the forums as well.
Is there any way to add a submission form to add items to the calendar? It would save a lot of work over the current email system, yet you could set it to only update after it has been moderated by you or Maria, for safety.
Laurie - We've discussed alternate submission models, and I think that Maria is still most comfortable with having direct contact on every event. However, we're working on a lot of upgrades to make the calendar more useful, and I think there might be room to play with the submission end. Thanks for the suggestion.
