CORICast

The official podcast of Central Ohioans for Rational Inquiry

So here we are in May, and the April episodes aren’t up yet. A confluence of factors contribute to our untimeliness, but rest assured, we’ll be posting some new episodes soon, including our first LIVE podcast, direct from the 2010 Ohio Skepticamp! Much fun was had at the event, I can tell you. Links cometh…

Later,

What’s this? Two posts in two days? I suspect divine intervention… but whatever the cause, here’s the latest CORICast.

Anyway: With David providing only the color commentary this week, Mark tells the story of a supposed Mythbusters fan who failed to heed the “do not try this at home” disclaimer, and Chad contributes some details on the origins of the following day, April Fool’s Day.

Your shoelace is untied! Unless your shoes are velcro, in which case, your tiny hooks and loops are undone! No, that doesn’t seem quite so funny, does it…

Enjoy. :-)

Yes, we’re behind. But it’s a nice behind, don’t you think? ;-) Anyway, here’s the latest CORICast…

Chad has a few *more* words for us about climate change denialism, Mark discourses on the local cost of “Bottled Ghost“, and David says something or other about flying cars for some reason. Who knows.

Enjoy!
-D.

Joining us for a very special CORICast, the inimitable Jen Myers takes a spin on our skeptical merry-go-round. David ‘breaks the chain’ in a particularly annoying chain letter. Mark celebrates the potential beginning of the end of homeopathy in the UK. Thirsty for knowledge? Chad brings beer. (And why shouldn’t he?) Finally, we all engage in some speculation of some odd behavior in certain marine life.

Enjoy. (Links coming soon.)

Mark lets the milk go bad, and doesn’t give a damn, according to an article from Slate.
Chad can hold his breath until he turns blue, but not quite as long as this guy… David discusses the amazing Jesus pain bracelet and plays games with us, yet again.

The show can be downloaded directly, here.

Enjoy.

Mark rocks out like a madman to the heavy metal stylings of… the beetles?
Chad shaves a few years off our lives using the Doomsday Clock. Finally, well, David is just playing games with us now….

The episode can be downloaded directly, here.

Enjoy.

Here’s the latest episode of CORICast, recorded February 4, 2010.

Mark shares a book in progress from Dr. David Dosa, about the infamous Death Cat, Oscar. Chad discusses the trial of John Freshwater, a teacher from Mount Vernon OH, who referred to the bible as a scientific text, and burned crosses in his student’s arms. Finally, David researches some claims made about his favorite Swedish DIY furniture store, including a claim that IKEA uses child labor. Finally, Chad leads a bit of free discussion ensues at the end about ‘teleporting energy‘.

Cue the violins…

CORICast is on hiatus for just a bit, while we all recover from various impairments. We will be back with a somewhat accelerated schedule once we’re all in fighting form. Until then… vigilance.

-David.

Here’s the latest CORICast, Recorded on December 10th, 2009.

David takes a trip to another world, via lightning. Chad discusses more stem cell goodness, this time, combating HIV. Also, we have “The Talk” with Mark, and none too soon.

Enjoy!

We seem to be lagging, but we’re still producing and the latest episode is now available for download. I blame all that turkey we ate…

Mark finds the new ‘nessie’ in a canal in Madeira Beach FL, Chad enjoys a little chocolate and a side of baguette, and Dave literally flips for a shuttle docking maneuver.

Enjoy!
